Anesthesia and Pain Medicine

1. Pain Clinic
Pain management doctors diagnose and treat various types of acute and chronic pain resulting from a wide range of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, which are difficult to cure with internal medicine or surgical treatment. The goal is to relieve or treat pain by blocking vicious circuits and stabilizing the excitation state of the peripheral and central nerves through drug treatment, physical therapy, nerve block, prolotherapy, and other methods.

2. Prolotherapy
Prolotherapy is a new concept in the treatments of chronic musculoskeletal and painful joint conditions. It involves repeated injections of dextrose solution or other irritant agents into the joint, tendon, or painful tissue. This therapy stimulates the body's natural healing processes to strengthen and repair injured joints and connective tissue. This non-sugical regenerative injection therapy can be applied to the following:

Spinal pain: lower-back pain, radiating leg pain, cervical/coccygeal pain

Osteoarthritis: knee, hand, ankle, foot

Tendinopathy: rotator cuff disease, Achilles tendon disease, lateral or medial epicondylitis, plantar fascitis

Osgoods-Schlatter disease

TM joint disease

Sports injury

Chronic pain after traffic accidents

Chronic upper-back or trunk pain

3. Sedation Clinic
The Sedation Clinic was established to provide safe sedation and pain control in patients during various procedures and examinations. The entire sedation process is performed by board-certificated physicians in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. Small amounts of anesthetic drugs are administered intravenously to maintain sedation/anesthesia appropriate for patients. The patient’s respiratory and cardiopulmonary functions are monitored throughout the procedure to ensure their safety. Indications are as follows:

CT and MRI: pediatric patients, adults who are difficult to examine due to pain, anxiety, or claustrophobia.

Endoscopic procedures: long-time endoscopic surgery, painful procedures, difficult cases to induce sleep with the usual methods.

Radiofrequency ablation for thyroid gland nodules or hepatic masses.

Mammotome biopsy for breast masses.

Other painful procedures and examinations, includingurologic procedures and gynecological procedures.
